Nah it wont make much difference at all, its all about your technique, if thats wrong it doesn't matter what board you have.
You wouldn't say the same thing about a top and bottom of the range wakeboard, it works on similar principles!
I went back to my old flat Cassette for a few rides at the end of summer while i was re-laquering my Cassette Concave, it felt wierd going back to it but i could still land my heelside and toeside wake-to-wakes.

How i learnt them originally was by putting the fins back on the board, after one set i felt really comfortable doing them, so for the second set i took them off and for me it was just a mind block or something as i could land them again. Dont know if that'll help you, but give it a go, whats the worse that could happen, also when you go out to ride have confidence in yourself that you will land them.
