hey
chrishow
sure not a problem...ask away!
i keep my boat on Hayling Island (nearish Portsmouth) which is just at the end of the A3 and takes about 1hr30mins to get to if there is good traffic from my flat in London SE1. the marina is really nice, very clean and brilliant facilities with a nice atmosphere. it costs about £400 a year to keep my 18ft boat there and i launch it every weekend (weather permitting of course!) myself.
there are three of us london dewellers who keep our boats there are we share a 4x4 which we just keep down there all the time to haul them in and out and to the petrol station (500yards away).
the whole area down there is wicked - loads of sandy beaches (for bbq's and general lazing around) and i have just joined the local ski club as they have a dedicated waterski park about 10mins boat trip away with a pontoon where you can camp for late/early wboards.
also i often blat over to the isle of wight for the day as it can be nice and sheltered over there in the early evenings.
i didnt look anywhere else so there may well be somewhere closer/better but i should think they will just be lakes etc and therefore somewhat restricted and probably get busy at times.
hope that helps a little...
