a Comet 30 is a TAV. You want a TAV2 as it all comes in the 1 assembly, you just usually have to grind one of the fins off the back to get a good fit.

Gearing should be something like 10T sprocket on the TAV, to a 60T on the spool. Make your inner diameter of your spool adjustable to allow you to adjust even further. 6" is a good size inner diameter, then have holes at 7" and 8".
