Poeple, I'm currently riding behind a very clean 1983 stars and stripes but I am looking at trading it in and up to something that throws a bigger and better formed wake. A mate of mine is chipping in to help fit the bill and we're looking at spending around 20K. The question is, what is going to be the best boat for the money. Super Air's are just about coming within the price range but parts avaiability is so I'm told a little shakey. But what an awesome boat. Anyone who has experience of an SA let me know your thoughts. Then there's the original M'craft 205, which once given a bit of ballast and the arse ache of finding/making a tower to fit is considered deadly. I rode behing a 1998 X-star not so long back and it rocked! Furthermore, there is the M'craft Maristar 225. Another awesome boat, but I'm lead to believe it needs a good deal of weight to get a solid wake and then of course it'll need a tower. Maristar people, let me know what your gen is on the issue.
Give me help kids ......... also, anyone wanting a tow on Windermere gie us a shout. Matt |

hi mate, have you ever thought about Tige ??? ive never rode behind one but they are the offical world wakeboard boats now, Midland marine are the dealers and have a web-site.

yeah mate, I drove a 22i Riders 2002 edition fully loaded at the Windermere test day and it completely and utterly ruled, but they are just out of my budget. I have to say those boats ****in rule big time, good build, good engines, superb response, excellent wake control system etc etc, the ultimate it the 20v which is the boat they got in the latest wakeboard mag. the other thing is Midland Marine have completely sold out of all their boats big time. And whilst Mick offered me a super special offer on a 21iType R it is stil just out of my reach. Ye know what it's like you set yourself a budget and before you know it it's grown. I just can't quite stretch myself that much ............ but I want one bad!!
What do you reckon to the best of the rest that I mentioned earlier? |

well at the mo we own a 92 prostar190 an with sacs for our level of riding is just great and the wake is spot on!!!!! regarding the other boats i couldnt tell you what they are like to ride behind as i havent ever beeen behind them but i do know that if you get any mastercraft that isnt wakeboard specific then putting a tower on it will decrease the sale value, so your best bet would be the X-star from a value point of view. unless of course you make do with a pylon which is what we did! the only other thing i know is that from 96 (i think or maybe 94) the hull on the prostars are alot deeper making them more stable and there are more features 96 onwards!!
hope this is of some use (probably not  ) pete 8O |

Yeah any words are good help.
I think it is 96 onwards the 205 got deeper and this is exactly the same hull as the X-star but without all the graphics, tower, ballast and of course the later x's have the v-drive set up. Likewise a Maristar 225/230 is exactly the same hull as the X-30 but without all the wakeboard add ons that hike the price something rotten. I've got a pylon and sack and everything on my boat and it is good, but if you get the chance to ride behind an x-star as I did some weeks back you'll realise that your wake and my wake are like ollieing off pavement kerb stones compared to the perfectly formed steep as ****, tall wake of an x-star that gives you so much more height and time to do things. I thought I got good air behind my boat until I popped one off behind the X. It's unreal. I suppose it depends on how far you want to take it really doesn't it?! I know that all my choices of boat rule in terms of giving a good wake but I would like to know which is the best etc. Have people had problems with Nautique SA's, does a MAristar need **** loads of ballast to get a good wake or what? Any help is welcomed. Matt |

I just spent 5 days on a 99 super air, what aboat! great wake. I have a 78 martinique that chucks a mean wake, but a little more rampy than the SA. that boat is for sale for 27 grand. (my buddy is the milwaukee nautique dealer).
