Default Bigger Wake??

Hey i was just wondering what i can do to make the wake bigger on my boat. We have have 98 Mercury 150 Hp out board engine and the wake just isnt large enough. Is there anything i can put on the fin or anything like that to make the wake larger? I know putting a bunch of weight in the boat works but I was just seing if there was anything u can put on to the engine. With any replies would be awesome. Thanks

basically theres only one factor that contributes to wake size and that is water displacement. wakeshape is defined by hull shape/characteristics. it can be can be tuned by trimming the boat and weighting different areas (front/back, basicaly crude trimming but with more of a displacement effect).

The only way to make it bigger is to get more boat in the water (increase displacement) weight works well for this, or going slower, however when you slow down the wake may wash out and get real wide. this is why weight is preferred, thing is, unless you have power to spare its not always the best plan.

I can only suggest weighting, however it may not be the right option for your boat - maybe experiment and see? if you really can't add any more weight then you'll just have to stick with it and work on making what you have better by changing trim and playing with how you distribute what weight you have (kit and people) around the boat.

as a starting point many outboard and I/O boats perform better with weight in the bow area.
