Default Anyone tried the Malibu wedge for mega wakes?

Saw their new brochure which is advertising a new innovation for an aqua foil type device which supposedly creates a better wake than loading up with fat sacs. Has anyone got any experience with this?[/b]

Default Malibu Wedge

We ride a Malibu Wakesetter Xti. It has the ballast (Malibu Launch System) and wedge. The wedge makes a big difference. It adds a lot to the wake without taking up more storage space. The wake stays real clean too. We always ride wedge down and full ballast. We are VERY pleased with the ride. I would suggest it to anyone I meet.

Hi, does it affect the handling of the boat at all?

Default Wedge

No effect on handling either. The boat planes in the same amount of time as without the wedge. Turning (even way tight turns) is not effected. The only effect you see is behind the boat, your wake is MUCH bigger. And above 25+ mph the wedge no longer is effective. The wake at 35 is comparable to the no wedge wake at 35. I've played around with the ballast and wedge to see what effect it does have. Ballast has a much bigger effect on handling and accelleration than the wedge. The wedge has negligible effect on handling. The boat with no ballast and no wedge tops out at 50 mph. The boat with full ballast (900lbs water) and wedge down gets up to 48+mph, it just takes a few 100 yards longer to get there. Hope this helps.

Default problems

I have a 200 Wakesetter VLX. Do you or anyone else you know have a problem with the balast sytem? Mine is a P.O.S.! It always leaks, and either doesn't work properly. ie. not pumping out the side when it gets full causing the floor to warp up.

Other than that problem, the wake is huge, the boat runs great and gets great looks.

Any feedbak out there besides, take the damn thing back.

Frustrated

Scott
