I don't know if any UK lenders offer the same terms they do in the states. Most new boats over there are on 25-30 year loans thats how they afford them.
I know Barclays do marine mortgages for boats.

http://www.personal.barclays.co.uk/B...7&target=_self

Step 3 of 3 : Illustration
Loan Amount £25001
Monthly Repayment £303.33
Number of Repayments 120
FHBR 5.0%
Margin 3%
Loan Rate 8%
Illustration APR 8.30%

Minimum of 25k. Secured against the value of boat too.

The bottom line is not whether you can afford to buy one outright (not many people do I bet) but wether you can afford £300/month. Lots of people can afford that quite comfortably. Why spend your own money when you can spend someone elses!

Isnt the problem in the uk not getting a boat but what to do with it once you have one? If you live inland most lakes are overcrowded and cost a bomb. That on top of the boat purchasing is what would seem to be the killer.

Working the cost out for the year, that's club fee's, maintanence, but not fuel, most of the time this can be just about covered with mates chipping in, it works out at about the same has a pack of cigs a day. Once you have made the boat purchase, it's funny how you can always find the money for the wakeboarding way of life, just don't look at the cost to closely!!

Must go now, just out to rob the local post office, well I need the cash for the deposite on the 06 X2. Those mastercraft boys know how to keep us in debt!

I live on the coast so its a catch 22 really. Water always available (well almost with the tides). Mooring costs about a grand a year. However the main problem is the weather and getting flat water for boarding. The nearest lake is Haverigg about 30 miles away.

I usually board of the back of me ski or mates boat on the sea but I'm gonna get a boat for next season. I'm in two minds whether to buy a all out wakeboard boat or a fast sports cuddy that can handle the chop better.....

Most of the newer wakeboard boats handle choppy water quite well. Manufacturers have been increasing the V in boats over the past 8 years or so as wakeboats are more social than all out tournament boats and as such more likely to be used in not so perfect conditions.

Look at the maristar range or if you want to spend some more the x10 or x30 from mastercraft. These boats love the chop.
