lpg is about 110 octain as apose to 95 for regular unleaded, so has more knock resistance which lets you advance the ignition timing without causing pre ignition.

you get sligtly less mpg on gas but the ignitoin advance creates more power so you dont have to go as hard on the throtle..............

dont know if this post has any relevance to this topic, just thought i'd stick my nose in

Not had much luck getting a supplier for bulk LPG Tank they will only do it if you sign upto 20,000L per year! We only use about 5,000L at the moment, they say it is because it costs them alot to site the tank.

We have a fixed 100L tank in the boat and one options is getting a LPG transfer pump so I can fill it from the 19K propane bottles for extra sets, does anybody know where online you can buy a LPG transfer pump for moving gas from bottles to a autogas connector??

cheers

You don't want 19KG bottles. Thats only 40L of gas. You want 47KG bottles which is almost 100L.

Ebay is you friend for the transfer pumps. They are on there all the time. £250 is the going rate.

I was thinking of using the small ones just to get extra sets @ the end of the day and still filling the main tank from a petrol station on the way to the slip way, can you tell me which propane tanks the transfer pumps work with, as my local gas guy (andy's gas) said you can not transfer from normal propane (19k or 47k) bottles only the 18kg Fork lift bottles with Liquid take off valves, is this true??

confused

Forklift bottles are 18KG. Propane bottles are 19 or 47KG and both can be used for feul transfer, jyst turn them upside down and hey presto they are now liquid take off.

Most bottled gas suppliers will not recommend this as for road use its illegal but for off road use its fine.

19 and 47kg bottles have the same type of screw fitting on them, or at least they should but this often varies between dealers.
