Default Bulk LPG Tank's

Hi All,

We run our boat on LPG Gas and are fed up trailing it to the petrol station, anybody got a bulk LPG tank supplier that they rate? Any estimates on install cost , requirement, price per litre LPG would be helpful.

Cheers
ril

If you purchase your own bulk tank then your free to shop around for your fuel. If however you choose to rent then you stuck with one supplier.

Calor are your best bet if your choosing to rent. They will come and install, commision and fuel your tank for you.

If you want to buy there is a firm on ebay that sell, install and commision bulk tanks. Here's one of their auctions http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LPG-Static-tan...QQcmdZViewItem

Seem like a good price to me and then you can shop around for your suppliers. One benefit of this is if your stuck with just say calor you won't have to wait for a delivery. 2 summers ago my local lake had no gas for over a week as they let it run down and calor couldn't get a tanker out for ages. It mean't loads of agro towing boats to the garage.

Another option for you is to run on forklift bottles. I converted a mates boat over to forklift bottles as it'll save him a trip to the garage. I'm also doing my boat the same and as its a vdrive i can have one bottle either side of the engine at the rear. 19KG forlift bottle = 38L of lpg and cost £15 delivered to my door from the local supplier. I used to hate the 1 hour plus round trip to fuel up everyweekend.

Yeh saltwater convirted my boat to Forklift gas. Its the best way as I dont have to go to the petrol station. Its Cheap, etc etc

It works very well looks a bit pikey when you run out of fuel and have to change the canister. But hey as jay said you can get to 19kg bottles for £12 upwards delivered to your door.

How many bottles do you put in your boat? On a whole day boarding we want to use about 160L. I want a tank so we can fill up half way throught the day.

I take two bottles out a day. so about 80 ltres or so but i only have a 16 foot boat but it has a massive 5.0ltre inboard on it.

Luckily ive never run out as i cant really fit anymore than 1 spare on the boat due to lack of room

Our 20ft skiboat, 5.7 v8 direct drive uses about 80 liters in 4 hours, or 12 tows, but it's got 4 people in it and 1200 pounds of ballast.

Can you run a boat on its main LPG tank in the boat and switch to small bottle tanks for a few extra runs? are the connections the same??
