Default car

Get rid of your Vectra and buy a cheap Ford Scorpio or Granada and if you can find one a 4x4 you will notice the difference they have no trouble up any slip even when it's wet or covered in Algae
Good Luck?

Default towing

hey friend, we had this problem when we upgraded boat, after spending s**t loads on a mastercraft we had nothing to tow it with and not alot of cash left for vehicle. we ended up spending ages trying to find a cheap 4x4 but to no avail,(although they are out there). all you really need to make sure is that if it aint 4x4 then it must be rear wheel drive(pref automatic(believe me the auto make life so much easier). anyhow we brought a vauxhall carlton auto 2.0 rear wheel. it cost £200 and does the job with ease and our slip way is absolute ****e. old volvo is one to look for as well
hope this was some help if not a little boring

I know what you are talking about. I bought a New boat and only had a station wagon to tow. I was a laugh to see at the lake. The car really strugled to make it up the ramp. I look around and found a 1972 Ford F250 for $1000.00. It really changed things. The older truck gave a little more character to the boat and it pulled the boat with ease. The truck looked like a rust can but I could have done with out it.

The bigger tounament boats are over a ton on a trailer so getting something to tow that should be straight forward, the problem you have to consider is launching recovering, if you want to go down to the coast you may need to recover on a tidal estuary which can be tricky or steep slipways.

The rear wheel drive idea is a good idea too. The lake i ski at have a club land rover for launching which is useful, however they have put in a new slipway and that is quite steep due to the shoreline, so a 4x4 is really a must.
