Unhappy outboard runs rough after backwash help

or little 80 merc blueband 4 cyl runs beutifully most of the time but every now and then when the backwash washes over the back of the engine she starts stalling, i was wondering if there was any special lube or grease that we could put on the plugs to stop it affecting it, probably only need it on the bottom two,

cheers

jason

You engine case must be missing the foam strip that stops water splashing up inside the case. Use some sticky backed foam on the bottom of the case all the way round and this should keep all the water out.

Also lashings of WD40 will keep the moisture at bay. Keep a can onboard (every boat should carry some) and if it starts playing up spray all the electrical contatcs and plug leads down.

Did you find any flat water last night?
