Default Prop Pullers

We have a couple of little dings in our 13x13 bronze prop on our velvet drive 351 inboard, so I was thinking of sending it off to steeldevelopments to get it fixed, does anybody know if you have to use a proper mastercraft prop puller (£130!!) to pull the prop off an inboard??

Cheers
rossl

Prop puller not needed.

Heat it up with a blow torch and give it a little tap.

Do just that, although you only want to heat the prop not the shaft. The expansion of the prop will allow it to come off the shaft easily. Use a block of wood on the back of the prop to avoid damaging it although you normally only have to give it a light tap. If you've not got a torch find a plumber with a MAP torch. Thats what I use and they are great for getting stuck items apart with out risk of melting them.

When going back on just put a bit of grease on it and slide it on. Its a tapered shaft so it will go on easy.
