Jeremy, as you know I've had an L200 for a few months now... Love it. It hasn't skipped a beat since I got it and gets some fair abuse. But I'd avoid unless you really need it.. its a big hunk of a thing, gulps fuel (18-30mpg) and is a pain to lug about town.

Having said that, I know the Navaras are good too; but slightly more prone to faults (certainly the earlier ones). The only reason I didn't go with a Navara was due to the insurance hike.

Both these machines are great but do need the extras (leather seats and electric bells and whistles) to get them to car spec.

If I were you though, I'd stick with the 350z.. I'm always happy to help with launching/retrieving boat when I'm around and I'm sure you'll find many more like me.. unless you really need a pick-up I'd avoid it as I don't half miss my Mini Cooper! 0-60 in 14 seconds is no fun for anyone!

Or maybe an old banger would fit the bill so you can still have something sporty?

I needed a fair bit of space so the Navara suited me better than the mitsubishi, I have driven the Hi lux and it was good, just preferred the Navaras looks and the Aventura has all the toys, i also have auto. (old and lazy now) my only real criticism is the fuel consumption which does not go over 22mpg. poor i think. i have a snug top, 2nd criticism. expensive piece of s**t. keys break, latch breaks, been in several times to have this repaired, and they dont warranty the keys, so when you break the key opening the broken latch, it costs you £80.00.
Does anybody have a Navara without snug top? i wonder how much this affects fuel consumption or maybe the auto does not help.
Seats are quite upright in the back of the navara, but not a real problem, plenty of room otherwise, can also load in the back seats by folding up. good sat nav, good driving position. and dealer ( Dan Perkins) have been good except for issue with keys for snug top.

Yeah.. think I might notice the handling and acceleration difference from the 350Z , what would be ideal would be an pimped up old Land Rover like the ones I saw in Oz... as long as tax and insurance were low it would be better to drive a car most of the time and use a 4x4 only when needed. Let's offroad...

Jeremy get yourself an old tax exempt landrover and use your prefered car for every day driving. I used to run an LPG disco but decided it was cheaper to run a 50mpg+ diesel day to day and have an old launch vehicle for the weekends.

I pay less than a tenner a month to insure my landrover, tax is free and its ideal for for launching my boat in the sea and also for general trips to the dump with garden waste etc.

Not a great pic of it but you get the idea :

Agreed with Saltwater, buy old and cheap because you are launching in the sea... My L200 is just hitting 1 year old and I have seen some rusty bolts under the trim and on the door sills... I spend too much time lubing and cleaning it and Im still gonna have to part-ex it soon before I ruin it!

Pity they dont make a saltwater edition animal .....
