Default Mercruiser 5.0l help!

when we try to trim up it clicks unless we wiggle .do you reckon its just the wire or maybe the solenoid thing`s cos its that that sounds like it clicking???!?!?

Sounds just like a loose connection, get a can of Wd40 and clean up all the connections you can see round there.

Is was the solenoid in the end, but i had a spare solenoid from our old mercury outboard, we tried it and it worked, it isn`t the exact part number but looks almost identical, do you reckon it will be ok??? its working a treat!
