Default LPG problem??????

Picked up my new boat this morning (02' Tige 20ci). On the way to our club filled up at the local station with LPG. Had a problem with the first pump as it wouldn't work so used another pump, but only managed to squeeze in 5l. The guy in the kiosk did mention that they had problems with there pumps! The previous owner did say that there should be some gas in the tank but only a bit. Used the boat for 15 mins with no probs but then i lost power and the boat would only tick over and run at low revs. Seemed as though i had ran out of gas!!!

Went to a different filling station and could only squeeze in 8l. Never had the chance to re try the boat on the water as it was getting dark. My tank is 120l so should be able to get alot more in.

Any ideads anyone?

Maybe it is in fact full and you have another issue - do you have any kind of gauge on there or can you remove the tanks to give them a shake to check their fulness?

LPG can be a tricky system to work with what with freezing carbs etc... There's people on here that know way more than me so I'll step out now but I'd say get someone to check the system...

There should be a gauge on the multivalve that will give you an idea, it could be your multivalve or filler valve that have crud in them also, that was the cause of ours not filling once, i just replaced them both to be sure.

cheers

Cool

I agree with Ross on this one. If you're down to the club next weekend, I can come over and take a look if that'd help...?
By the way, thanks for your help Saturday at the MWSC Youth Wakeboard Training Camp. Feedback was real good, and the upcoming Comp' looks well set up! Cheers, J.

Sounds like a problem with the fill valve or multivalve if its a single hole tank.

Could also be the tank isn't orientated correctly, ie at the wrong angle and the fill float is shutting off too early.

Or it could be that the pick up tube inside the tank is bent, broken or fallen off.

Post a pic of the tank or tell me if its a single or quad hole tank and I'll help you trouble shoot from there.

Thanks for the input guys. Just to update you.....

Last week I took the boat to an LPG mechanic who emptied some gas. As it was being let out the tank started to get cold and a level could be made out from the frost/condensation more than 3/4 a way up the tank. He said from his experience that the tank was full, so I went to the filling station and put over 20l in the tank! So the tank will fill!

I ran the boat on both on Sat and Sun, and on both occassions the boat starts and runs perfectly for 10-15 mins, then for no reason just loses power and cuts out. Immediatly after, if you turn the engine a few times, the boat will start and run but the cutting out happens more frequently. It will tick over fine and will go into gear but sometimes won't respond to power.

The temperature guage doesn't work and the vapourisor is hot but bearable to the touch after the 10-15 mins.

Any idea's again guys??????
