Default maxum 1800 mx ballast

hi there ive got a 2004 3.0 mercruisermaxum 1800 mx with hi5 stainless prop and was thinking about buying a fatsac 600 lbs for the ski locker and using a couple of water tanks for the bow what is your view on this as i am getting to the stage where i am looking for a bigger wake.
i am open to all opinions as i really dont want to waste money if it isnt going to help.

tough call... you have 135hp to play with and adding weight is really going to make it harder to hold speed.

Personally I'd Think about changing over to an 1800SR with a 4.3 MPI ( or another brand) maybe a year older than your current boat.

You could feasibly add a 600lb fatsac to the center locker and it will make a difference, but at the expense of fuel and speed holding.

yeah thanks for that i see what your saying but i have had this boat for a year now and love it and it is immaculate and just want to enhance the wake a little bit. should i just stick with a fatsac in the ski locker and that will do it i would say im spending around £20 of fuel anyway it is great on fuel so that wont bother me its just getting it to plane lol

Best thing for it then is to try with a fat sac and just start filling until you find your struggling on power. Move everyone forward of the rear seats... anyone sitting there and you will really struggle to get on plane.

What pitch is your high 5? a 19" could make this possible for 1 sac and a few people in the boat but not much more.

best to experiment.... if you want a cheap sack and pump give me a bell and I cna hook you up for around £120.00

Regards,

Mike
