kool cheers for the replies I ride inland waters so rough water isnt really a problem.
i'm going to try perfect pass, how good is it? i find that the speed i need to go in my boat to get the perfect wake the boat is so hard to keep at a steady speed ,almost impossible especially with all the changes of drag etc like when the boarder cuts out to the sides etc. how well does the perfect pass cope with this? will it keep a steady speed no matter what?

Its so annoying half the time im up on the water im waiting for the boat speed to get right.

Thanks
Aaron

Just a quick up date, i orderd the perfect pass direct, got it for about £750 all in, i went for the new gps system thats replaced the paddle wheel.

Anyway i took it out for a trial saturday and its made all the difference, very impressed with how it holds speed, everytime i hit the wake its the same as the last time, where as before with the boat changeing speed all the time the wake was constantly changing. Already its given me confidence to push a bit harder.

Wasnt sure how well it would work on a stern drive but it does exactly what it says on the tin

You'll find you may want to adjust to compensate, i.e 18mph upstream then knock it up to 20 when you turn back, either way i think it would be more acurate then a paddle wheel.

hmm im not sold, 2mph was an estimate and it changes quite a bit as the tide changes.. im interested in gettin PP so i emailed them the same question... will post the reply when i get it... although the paddle wheel might not provide an accurate speed if not calibrated correctly it should still be more consistent at holding the right water speed... im sure the GPS holds a better land speed but thats no good for me!?
