Default Planners Trying to stop CW Cable @ WM Ski

The new left foot forward cable is being blocked!!

WMSki have recently had their plans to construct a clockwise Rixen cabletow turned down by the local planning committee based on the grounds that it will create too much noise, attract rowdy teenagers and because they perceive it as an elitist sport for the minority

And they wonder why there is an obesity problem in this country!!

And god forbid we get rowdy teenagers into wakeboarding when they could be out causing trouble and crime at night

And it will remain an elitist sport if there are not new cables built as most people live so far away from one - including me!!!!!

I hate the ignorant ******* that have the power of these things!!

Most of them probably got into the council as they could not deal with a job in the real world

shame that!!!

especially as its highly unlikely that there will be much home development around there for a while in the current economic downturn...

hope they get the permission at the next application

what a joke, the amount of people that benefit from cables is huge. local councils really aren't getting the idea that when kids don't have anything to do the get bored and end up in trouble or playing on computers their whole lives. And its a great social place for adults to meet aswell and push each other to get better.

I reckon the members of the council should be invited to have a free lesson for themselves or if they are physically unable for a member of their family or close friend. It would soon show them the sense of community and acheivement that the cable would bring, plus that its a sport that brits are good at and actually qualify to compete in!!

Exclamation Thanks for your support

Hi guys,

Will from WMSki here. Thanks for starting this thread, and thank you for all your positive comments. The more of these we get, the easier it will be to disprove their misinformed ideas at the planning appeal, so we need EVERYONE'S help. We need to get as many people to join the Facebook group as possible, and we need as many of you as possible to write a short line on here or on the Facebook group's wall about the positive effect cable wakeboarding had had on you, your kids, your parents, your grandma or especially your local area.

Many of you may not have been to visit us yet, but the support shown on here and elseware on the web will help support future plans for new cables across the UK. Please help the development of the sport we all feel so passionate about and let the world know how you feel.

Thanks in anticipation,

Will
