I agree. Its not the type of publication that we wish to be associated with but yes, press releases/any PR does help.

Wow... you must feel really strongly against it. Come.. it's not that bad. And I don't want to talk out of place but as a fairly clued up person within this industry I have no issue with it. Marketing and brand image is something that is very valuable to me and my company (to which end we have seen success with) - Wakeboard Magazine represents us very well.

Paul - you can get the mag from any WH smiths.. some stock it, some don't so you may have to order it (Wakeboard Magainze, Published by Arcwind). Otherwise you can order directly from them.

Im glad to hear it does well for you. Clearly business is important to you as it is to me, but If you dont listen business, your not going succeed. Here's a classic example.

Magazines rely heavily on advertisers. Good magazines rely on advertisers, quality content and the ability to adobt to market change. Where's the change here.

There only one thing worst than being talked about, is not being talked about at all.

I think my point is quite clear. Praise when praise is due but get your finger out Wake mag, otherwise you'll just end up being another average publication.

What a great opportuntity to develop a product that could possible succeed given the right management experience and funding.

it would be cool if the magazine did more articles where they take some boarders on a trip to get photos and write a story. They did one in windermere a couple years ago tht was really good.
PUW, what is your brands image? I always think of wakeboard mag as the more civilised and family targeted magazine and alliance wake as a more 'core' publication that is aimed at the actual boarders them selves. Where does your company fall between those groups? do you advertise in any maountain bike magazines?
It seems to me that advertising in them must work because so many companies still do. Though if you can buy wakeboarding mag in WHSmith thats probably a big incentive to companies.

Steve

We are more a lifestyle brand rather than a Wake/Skate/Bike/Surf brand. Its so easy to fall into one of those category's at the brands conception, then you end up limiting the brands lifespan. We do have connections with Bike related publications but thats on the back of a few of my sponsored riders. These publications are happy to develop business relations and have very high circulation figures. Even with Kris Janczuk now sponsored by us, that doesn't mean we would advertise with Wakeboard Mag. Our business only works they way it does, because we only work with companies who listen, understand and communicate professionally.
