Default Riding in Suffolk or Cambridge?

Can anyone help me find somewhere to ride that's close to Cambridge / Newmarket / Bury St Edmunds area of East Anglia. I currently live in Singapore where I can board daily, I might be coming home next summer so need to find a way to keep this addictive hobby going.

I might also consider buying a boat if I can find a waterway to use it on and folks to ride with - appreciate any help given.markcalver@pacific.net.sg

I come from just outside Cambridge and I lived in Suffolk last year. I rode at Waveney waterski club deep in the sticks of Norfolk, which is cheap and has a really nice lake. However boat isnt loaded etc.
When I went home I rode at Southlake in St.Neots which is pretty damn cool. Gosfield is also not too far from Bury but never ridden there.

If your getting a boat you've got Felixstowe which is an estury or if the boat limit isn't full Saltwater Cowboys club which has a good crowd.
Also private lake in St.Neots call Broughton Lodge (or something similar) and i think there might be one in Ely somewhere but not sure.

Anyways just about all of it is on the british waterski website. Hope thats some help.

Wakeboard boats are NOT allowed at the lodge because of worries about bank erosion. So I'd drop that from your list.

Neots is good for beginners. If you want a vdrive and coaching then there's grendon, tallington and ditchford all not far from Cambs.

We may well have some boat owning spaces for next year in Brightlingsea, Essex. Its a bit of a trek for you but its good water and cheap.

No restrictions on wakeboard boats and memberships are offered on a first come first served basis.

Failing that if you just want a tow when your over here just give be a shout.

Grendon is awsome and reasonably priced compared to other places of its standard. Plus being an internet techy type guy I dig the online booking. If your talking about living in newmarket its a bit of a trek if you wanna ride like 2 to 3 times a week.

Gosfield IS ok but in the summer you will have to pay £350 ish membership fee then on top of that £12.50 a tow. Its more of a mono ski place than for boarding and you only get two laps of the lake on a board which takes about 5 mins. If you mono you get 3 how does that work?

This may have changed but doubt it.

In the Winter as a non member your looking at £18.50 a tow. And depending on the driver you can be looking at between 5 or 15 mins on the water.

The advantage is the water is GLASS
