hehe, that is funny, but seems like a lot of effort. I usually just say: "Yes i would love to talk to you about <insert topic>, but could you just hold on a second i need to turn the oven off" then just leave it of the hook.

They get paid for sales... and if they don't make sales they have to call a certain number per hour. This screws them on both accounts, firstly they won't get a sale and they also will waste time.

Just my course of action.
