Your vehicle will have a max towing weight check the manual for this, if it fits its fine.

You also need a higher catagory license in recent years but being an old timer you missd the deadline thus can tow whatever you want upto 7.5 tonnes at your leisure.. I on the other hand am stuck with jet bikes and garden trailers!

Saying all this though, the law in the Uk is lax, you'd be unlucky to get picked up on anything... more importantly in my opinion is working brakes coupled to a reliable trailer in good order.. all being pulled by a car that is close to matching the weight of whatever you're towing.

If the boat is going on the trailer 'wet' or you are going for a decent journey be sure to use chains and HUGE ratchet tie-down at the rear of the boat wrapped around the frame of the trailer; and at the front - through the D ring on the bow and back to the front axle of the trailer - The boat should become one with the trailer.

There's my thoughts... if you need a hand with anything at all I'm back in Bristol on Monday and will hapilly bob down and be your banksman for an hour or so

Well couldn't get a new jockey wheel in time so utlised a monster bit of wood to do the same job. Towing wasn't too bad but it's certainly a big bit of kit, the Audi estate looked distinctly dinky... did the job though.

Thanks for the advice and to Ross for the tipoff about the boat storage...
