Default Jockey wheel on Maristar 230 Trailer

My jockey wheel winder has exploded as I tried to use it. Looks like a pin in the mechanism has sheared. Does anyone know whether it's worth attempted a fix or whether MC can supply a suitable replacement?

Not worth messing with - something else will break after fixing the first fault - it does with me!

Yeah, I was wondering that. I have got a quote for a bradley jockey wheel to fit the bradley hitch on the trailer... guess how much?

300 UKP (or nearly 600 US Dollars)!!!!! I nearly fell off my seat... seing as a pikey caravan wheel can be under 20 UKP.

I'll give Mastercraft GB a call and see what they quote.

You can get the Fulton US spec ones on ebay for about £22 inc delivery.

They are much better than the UK wind up type as they just pivot round. They also can be fitted to any trailer as they clamp round the frame and not bolt through it.

I have 2 of these on my trailer (one each side) and they are strong, quick and easy to use. Its the same type MC (and every other manufacturer) put on all their US trailers.

Thanks for that bit of info stripped down the existing one today and went at the stuck bit with wd40, a large hammer, a screwdriver and extension.. and finally a blowtorch as I was getting really p*ssxd off with it at that stage. It's knackered so I'll do a bit of ebaying and see what comes up.

That design looks just like the one I've just spent hours fighting with so would do the job nicely. I'm moving the boat tomorrow to a new home so will make do with the current one and get a new one (or two) at my leisure.

On a related topic does anyone know what the UK towing regulations are for boats/cars etc, e.g. how big a car I legally need to tow my 230?
