You can put them wherever you want. Its just a matter of convenience we have two 500lb sacks in the rear storage, a 500lb sack running down the middle of the boat from the drivers seat back, and a 1000lb sack 3/4 full in the bow. With this it limits the seating and manuverability in the boat drasticly. So its more of a question How much space are you willing to sacrifice for a bigger wake. If you get the bow down while still keeping the back down you will get the best wake possible.

" The other problem we have is that the boat is so heavy at the back, you have a god awful wake at slower speeds... but hey i can cope with fast!"

This is a great problem to have. First off its great for surfing. Second it is easy to add ballast to other areas of the boat to rid this problem. So good luck, have fun, I hope I helped.
