Default How do you get "pop"

Hey,

My name is Dannon, I just started to wakeboard yesterday. I got up after about an hour of trying, but I finally got it down. and I'm pretty comfortable riding, and coming off the wake and stuff like that. But I tried to pop an ollie on the flat of the wake, and I tried to do it just as if I was skateboarding, cus I've been skateboarding for quite some time, and it only got like an inch off the water. and then I tried again, and it got higher, but wen I landed, my nose went under and I face planted. How do I get a decent pop?

dude! to get a good ollie you neeed a bit of speed! the faster your board is traveling, the firmer the water becomes! so try putting the board on a hard edge, flatten out, then pop an ollie!

Since a wakeboard is a little heavier than a skateboard you need to ollie just a bit higher and its a little harder because the water isn't firm like the ground....so pick up your speed as fun bucket said and bend your knees a lot when hitting the wake. Try going out of the wake a little farther to get your speed up Most people go anywhere from 18-24 mph depending on rope length and skill level. I think 22 is about good for me....but i'm a chick so that might be slow for you...keep trying...a tower DOES help to get more air because of the upward pull and to get a bigger wake try shortening the rope and putting ballast on the boat...(add extra weight to the back of the boat to make the wake bigger.) Its easer for me to get more air when approaching the wake with my back towards it...(backside). Hope this helped

hey, most likely your getting pop but just not enough. when cutting in push down on the board before going up the wake and you'll get a bit more hight. kinda like in the flats when u ollie. if u push your bourd into the water in the flats then ollie normally u get a bigger ollie.
