I am getting real frustrated with the boat driver and the fact that I am a good wake boarder but unfortunatly the board is under water. A friend of mine recently purchased a boat. The boat is great and skiers have gotten up fine and other seasoned wakeboarders. We have made two trips to the lake with our new wake board and are having some problems. Unfortunatly my friend insists on gunning the boat every time I try to get up and it pulls the rope out of my hands. After I yell at the guy he will finially go slow. It seems that I can get up just fine but the board is under the water and will not pop out. I start behind the boat like everyone says and the boat starts moving slowly getting faster. I stand up on the board and turn it forward but the stupid thing refuses to come out of the water. Granted I am 6 foot 250. Am I getting up to soon, does the boat need to go faster? I feel like I can get up fine and like I said I am on top of the board pointed at the boat but the board is still under water. I can ride like that for a while until I give up trying to get it out of the water. I am guessing that I am getting up too soon? Or do I need to angle the board different? Do I need to wait until the boat gets going faster? Or am I the best underwater wakeboarder in the world? Any help would be appreciated. And I have read every thread in this forum about getting up and I could not find any that had this problem. Thanks, |

We have the biggest problems getting big blokes out of the water for the first time. I had a mission myself as I'm 6'1'' and not skinny.
The key as the previous person mentioned is to wait until you have enough speed to stand up. If we have someone who keeps standing up too quickly we get them to count to 5 slowly before they stand. This gives them enough time for the boat to accelerate to a speed needed to get a large bloke out of the water. The geeky reason for this is that the force lifting you upwards is proportional to the speed that you're travelling through the water... so if you're heavier you need more speed, plain and simple. Keep at it and good luck!

I will give the counting to five thing a try. I hope we can get out tomorrow for a couple of hours so I can try it. I used to be a skater back in the day 10 years ago. I have gained about 90 pounds since then.. I enjoyed that so I am hoping I can get up and at least go across the wakes and stuff.

sounds like because ure not going fast enough ure board is sinking, if u go fast and make sure the line is tight then there should be no problem, also maybe the board is the wrong size which i probably doubt but if ure using a board thats intended for ppl that wiegh 130 and below that might play a factor
