Default To buy or not to buy???

As per my other post i am totally hooked on wakeboarding and was wondering whether there is any distinct advantage in buying my own board or just continuing to use the rental ones availbale at my lake??? I don't have access to a boat so the only time i will be riding is down the local lake. I wonder if its worth continuing to use their boards until i really need to buy my own???

Any advice?? Also just so i know what sort of size board should i be riding?? I was thinking around a 141 i weigh 15 stone and am 6'3 tall.

Any help/advice would be top.

Thanks

Ralph

It's nice to have your own kit, and the advantage is that you will be riding the same set up every time. Binding's that fit are a must for comfort and safty. Sounds like you have had chance to try a few boards out, and it sound's to me, that you are in the right area regarding size, but my advise is to make sure you try the board before you make the purchase. Boards of the same length, but different models will not all ride the same.

Good look, and remember, 'buy cheap, buy twice !'

Top advice and thanks very much!!! I have ridden a couple and like you say they ride real different - will definitely try before i buy.

I reckon size wise thats prob right but its nice to hear other peoples opinions.

I see what your saying about owning your own - will have to give that some more thought i think.

Cheers

Ralph

Sounds like you're about the same size as me (6 ft 2in and 14 stone) and I ride a 140 so that sort of size should be fine.

Try before you buy and don't skimp on the bindings make sure they're as comfy as you can afford.

I'm 5"11 and 12.5 stone and I was almost going to go for a 144 as i thought i was on the top end of the weight scale for a 140. If you check hyperlite's sizing chart you'll see that they recomend between 141 and 144 for your weight.

If thats the case best I use an old door for my 16 1/2 stone!

I ride a 144 after moving up froma 140 as I found the landings hurting my knees. The 144 is much softer on landing, has good pop but doesn't spin as easy.
