i had reead somewhere that for beginners it's good to start on a larger sized board to get stability....is that right?

Its true yes, but thats only for total beginners who will be using the board maybe once at a club or something similar. What you want is a board that will grow with you, so the state is a good choice because it is built to help you develop, but the 145 is massive! I don't know anyone that rides that.. not even my friend who is 6'3" and weighs 13stone rides a 141! Anything over that sort of size and its going to become unwieldy.. You might get away with it on a boat, but if you start trying inverts or spins on a board that size its going to be very hard due to swing weight.

Ha! well then, when i get myself a smaller board i'll be able to pull of 540s and 720s no problem then!!!
