Errr.. I think you haven't thought this through very well.

If you are 5'7" and 160lbs then 135-137 is perfect for you, but the byerly model is definately for pro riders only.. it is too hard to control for a beginner and it will slow up your progression. The premier is a good all round board, but again if you are a beginner, I would get a board with fins rather than moulded in fins.. For your first board I'd do the usual and recommend hyperlite state or era (even a motive - brilliant board for everthing), or liquid force synergy/omega/team.

Looks for boards with continuous rocker as they are easier to control and more predictable, and depending on whether you like a locked in feel (fins) to a loose feel (moulded fins). You also want a simple tail shape like rounded or square as this produces predictable pop.

Hi -
agree with the comments made in the last post, last year i bought a parks board and for the whole summer my riding went backwards and confidence went through the floor - I am by no means fantastic on a board but could always do most surface tricks, jump wake to wake and land wake 180's .

last season i struggled with these and had a few nasty face plants on the parks which battered my confidence even more.

so got shot of the parks and bought a liquid force litmus 136, no frills shape and a proggressive( not aggressive as the parks is) 3 stage rocker and this year things are getting back to where they used to be. this for me is a great board and i would recommend it to anyone.
only thing for me is that i dont get the opportunity to ride as often as i would like because of work and kids, if i could i know i would proggress quikly on this board.

Bindings are l.f. ultras which i find really comfortable without the gimmicks of laces and ratchets, all of which can break. My mate who i ride with let me use his board last year with ultras which promted me to get them myself, i reckon i'll stick with these until they fall apart, or i do and cant ride anyway.

Like i said I am no expert but learnt from experience how choosing a board that isnt right can affect your riding - good luck with whatever set up you decide on..
