Default Rookie question

Just started wakeboarding this weekend. 1st time getting on a board. got up the 1st and every time out of 6 attempts. Trying to get a feel of the board, and moving around and such.

here's my problem, I can ride behind the boat all day, but I guess because this is new to me, crossing wakes on the surface gets me a little squirly and sometimes introduces my face to the water. Might be because I haven't got the balls yet to cross at a decent speed haha. Any tips on crossing the wakes? I also tried a surface 180 and ollie for the hell of it....neither turned out so great. which leads me to the ollie question. When i got a little air I went face first towards the water. Would that be because I let the boat pull me over? Maybe my arms were out when they should've been in?

I need to work on those, and edging. This is a totally new thing. So any tips you might have about anything ive mentioned, or anything I may need to know about anything else, I'd really appreciate it.

BTW here's what I'm riding....

06 Liquid Force Watson 142 with LF Watson bidings

YOu have one of the most agressive boards on the market which will limit your progresion. It is an excellent board but you probably need a milder one to progress from. Have you read any reviews on the LF Litmus? I am riding one at the moment and was really looking to change for a watson. would you consider a swap if i was to chuck in some cash too?

when it comes to crossing the wakes, remember to keeps your legs bent and point the board to where you want it to go, gently!

if your not landing your ollies make sure your board is pointing towards the boat, or the direction you are going in before you land, or just try bouncing and hopping a little before you try for air to get a feel for it.

Dont ask me for advice on surface 180's... I mean turning the board is easy (inside the wake) its just that staying up switch part.

All this talking about wakeboarding today is making me sad that i cant go this weekend.

thanks for the advice i'll give that a try next time to see if i can get that under control. i want to wakeboard this weekend, but with the amount of people that will be on the boat, i'm just going to be kneeboarding. Hopefully i won't wake up the next morning and not be able to move my head like the other day haha
