Default Transition from Snowboarding!

Hey Everyone!

I have tried wakeboarding a couple of times now - I spent the first session faceplanting, I think I managed 12 in total! - the second time I managed to to stay vertical and complete a circuit of the local cable.

Now I am looking at booking a block of sessions and it seems to make sense to buy my own equipment rather than pay for hire equipment every time.

Do the same theories behind wakeboards exist as for snowboards?

I am 14 stone and about 5' 6" and have used a 138 - is this the right size for me?

Which are the better manufacturers, which ones should I avoid?

Lace up - velcro - or neoprene bindings?

These are probably questions that every newb has asked but at the moment I dont have the time to trawl through a whole load of threads so your help would be much appreciated!

Mate- I am sure everyone will back me up on this, spend as much as you can on bindings

These are what protect your ankles and give you control on the board. So get the best you can.

By the way I know you looked at my Proof Bindings on ebay which are top end Hyperlite Bindings. They are re-listed with no reserve.

A 138 would be right for your height.. but not your weight. If you are intending to ride a lot. you will soon weigh less than 14 stone. Iam 14 stone and ride a 141 which is about right, but i am 5' 10". you can get away with a smaller board on cable but for softer landings on boat the larger board would be better. Any of the major brands should be fine but try them out. most of the cable shops will let you do this. if they dont, go somewhere else. where are you riding cable? Nottingham?

Thanks for the advice! I am looking at the second handers via fleabay - I cant afford a new one!

Should I be looking at a single or multiple fins?

I have only ridden at MK a couple of times but hope to get out more.

Snow is great fun and wakeboarding seems to be as much fun but better for my upperbody! Who needs to go to the gym when you can trash yourself on a the end of a cable instead!
