squat in the water with the base of the board facing the boat. keep a loose grip on the handle. Don't pull yourself up, direct the base of the board into the current of water as the boat pulls away using the board as a sort of water-brake. the board will naturally want to come up and plane on top of the water, Let The Board Do The Hard Work.

did u get an obrien board? when u seem to be dragin push hard downonto the board then let your non dominent leg slide back and push your dominent one forward. and pull up. thats always the hardest part for me =/ but it should only take a day or two
