tie off to tow spool

I just installed a wakeboard tower and am wondering how you are supposed to tie off the rope on the spool?

post a small loop through one of the built in loops, put the poted loop round the post at the top. The remaining rope cant be looped up and tied off to the tower with the useful velcro attachment that ropes come with
