Trouble getting up on the board!

Man, it is good to see someone explain a little more detail.
I would like to add another 'Thought' to the process.. Imagine sittin on your butt, with your knees bent, feet flat on the floor.. You also have your elbows kind of 'wrapped' around your knees.. Someone comes over to you and you ask them to give you a hand and pull you up... Same principal..You want your butt to slide to your heels, then when you are on your feet, slowly stand up...

Sounds fine, bought my board last sunday and only got a couple of goes as the tide was against us and there were just TOOO many people about in the water.

Looking forward to getting up this weekend or maybe even one evening.

hey AVI that was really good but you forgot to(or i didnt see) say to keep your arms straight out the entire time

Today was my first time and my best advice is just keep working at it and dont give up!!! But i have some pointers that helped me:

-first get the boat going slowly but ennought to lift u out of the water.
-lay the board horizontally facing the back of the boat and when u finally get up (which takes practice) turn the board so ure sideways, balence the board and ride!!!

i agree totally with Avi that you need to allow the boat to pick up up rather than drag you along at the begining...this was explained to me first time and once i had got over the idea of it feeling all very wrong.

last weekend was the fourth time i have ever done it and am now practising crossing the wake as much as i can so that i can get more confidence before trying some serious wide carving and then maybe a trick....
