Default RNLI, anyone a member or donate to them?

Just wondered if any of the other saltwater riders are a RNLI member or if they donate any cash to them.

If you don't you should really think about it guys. Only £2 a month and if you ride on the seas regually chances are you'll need them one day.

It costs £300,000 a day to keep the RNLI running and its nearly all from donations.

Just go on www.rnli.com

You can join for £24 a year, and pay monthly or £24 in one go. You can even pay more if you can afford to.

Here’s the RNLA boys who rescued us stuck on a sand bank this summer. Great bunch of lads even took us back out at 5 the next morning as the tide lifted the boat of the bank.

About 2 years ago my family and i were 2 miles out of Fowey in cornwall when our boat started sinking. A mile back in and the engine cut as the fuel tank was submerged. It was at the point when the engine started going under my parents decided to act. Halfway through an SOS conversation our boat capsized putting me and everyone I love into the water. We did have lifejackets on but without the RNLI we would all have probably died.

Ill never forget the relief that came over me when I heard the gun go off and because of that my parents are members and to this day I have never gone past a RNLI collection plate without putting all the change in my pocket in.

Its good to hear others are supporting them.

Never be afraid to call on them if you need to. You may think that your engine conking out or the tangled rope around your prop is a trivial matter but if after attempting to sort the problem yourself you are still stranded they are there to help.

You'll always get a friendly response from them if your sensible boater.

If however you've gone out in an overloaded and unmaintained boat, without life jackets, anchor, and flares then you may get a lecture from them and I've even known people to be asked to pay for the launch of the lifeboat.

Remember these guys (and girls) are volunteers, they are not being paid to come out and help you so if they give you some advice then listen to it. It could save your life.
