Default Wakeboarding in South America?

Any one got any good advice for places to wakeboard in South America?
Although I'm currently sat on the beach with the surf ripping I wouldn't mind a ride on some of the amazing lakes round here but no-one seems to have a boat or of even heard of the sport.

I know Jeremy did a trip round this area last year, any chance you could post some tips? and also anyone else that has found places around here let me know

cheers
Haggis

Well I worked out that it was very difficult to find somewhere to ride... I gave up trying to track down a wakeboarding setup and settle for surfing instead. Still found that tricky to get kit for, had a hilarious offer from a 4ft 6" bloke who wanted to lend me a wetsuit in Peru. As I'm 6'1" it didn't look like it was a comfortable option ;-)

When we went back to Peru earlier this year we took out our epoxy surfboards, it cost a bit on the plane but was worth it being able to ride our own boards whenever we felt like it. If your missus surfs/boards then I'd recommend a double board bag to save money on the airlines.

Where you might get a tow is at a holiday resort... if you end up somewhere with a posh hotel/resort nip in an see what they can provide. It won't be an X Star but you might get a tow ;-) I did this in the Maldives behind a jetski.. it was really cool to see all the fish underneath me.

I'm currently in India and have located a boat and driver... but they don't have a wakeboard ;-(

Finally I think Dan Nott was in South America over the winter (Brazil or Argentina maybe?) and I think they had a full on setup including proper wakeboard boat.. maybe someone can let us know where and what he was up to...

yeah I know South America is a big place, not even there at the moment, just catching a few last waves up in Panama at the mo. Just wondering if anyone could give us pointers as to where to head to on the way down, I find it hard to believe that there is nothing there. Oh well, just have to look forward to freezing my nuts off at thorpe again when I get back ;-)
