Quote "guy who went to dubai u shuold have googled it

TWS The Wakeboard School

looks amazing"

Went to Dubai for a few days last month and hooked up with these guys. Fantastic! Great boat (Malibu), good location - on the sea but up a kind of a creek so very sheltered, lovely warm water, good equipment available to use, excellent coaching and only about £15 for a 20min set!
The only gripe I had, is that it's quite a way outside the city - about 45mins drive - and located within the grounds of a beach club. If they catch you coming in you get charged about £10 for a day membership. Alternative is - arrive early, when I got there at 9am the security guard was nowhere to be seen! Or either stay there the day and get your money's worth by doing several sets, or book your accommodation there - some nice looking beach front villas.
I'm def going back there next year as it was a great place to do some warm water riding and shake off those winter cobwebs. Intend to spend a few days staying where the wakeboard school is and then move into the city and spend a few days in WildWadi waterpark trying to conquer the flowrider! Anyone had a go on one of these? Only had the boogie boards out when I was there - good fun though!

With the likelihood of limited boardstock in the maldives would it be worth buying a wakeskate to take out there? The added bonus being that having not ridden onee before there would be no one i know to witness my shoddy beginnings as a future pro wake skater.

A wakeskate would be a good option, no bindings to carry or try and fit in your bags. I guess you know the exact island/resort you are going to... can you call them up to ask what they have to rent, you might be lucky.
