With the added surcharges some airlines are charging it would be cheaper to buy a board out there and just leave it behind when you go home!

If you're flying with Virgin, definitely don't say it's a wakeboard. They tried to charge me £35 each way. As Lesley said, they class it as a surfboard, for no other reason than they don't know what it is and it has "board" in the name! Bikes, skis, snowboards, golf clubs, waterskis are all free. I had a huge argument at check-in and eventually took it up with the customer services manager at Gatwick. He didn't know what a wakeboard was either, so I told him it was like 2 waterskis stuck together! That made it ok and they took it for free!

On Ryanair to Seville this coming weekend, I've coughed up £31 return for the board. The return flight for myself in a whole bloody seat of my own (I hope) was £25. Think I'll get the board a passport of its own!
