Catch a ferry from Holy head and 2 hours from Dublin you have the best water in the UK - 180km of navigational rivers and lochs- all quiet and no speed limits. The waterside accomodation is much cheaper than mainland english waterside accomodation - so this helps offset the ferry cost - and you have flat water all day every day - guaranteed! loch lomond and windermere do not offer that - winderemere you risk prosecution if you are just doing a short stay and loch lomond rough seas - you can travel on both these waters and risk a holiday with bad water - you will always find a small bay but spend your weekends on occassion doing short runs just like that lake in wales - why risk it for a holiday - when a short ferry ride you have the best water in Europe. We are back on Loch earn for two weeks in july/august - been last two years. Use the upper loch it is by far the best part - anywhere south of enniskillen. i have been to most locations in UK and this is the best by far.
