Default Travel Tips

Looking for tips.

Have 3 weeks booked off Sept/Oct (25th Sept to 13th Oct). Had planned to go to Florida for a bit then road trip to Miami. Am now travelling alone and thought it might be a good opportunity for me to go somewhere I have not been and do a bit of travelling and riding.

Am open to going anywhere, but only have a budget of about 2.5k for the holiday and spending (3k max). Options that come to mind are, Australia, Thailand, South Africa, trek across Central and Eastern Europe………..

Want to see some remote and cultural places, do not want to go to any big cities etc. Obviously limits riding potential though! Am thinking the Philippines area may be a good option.

So anyway, I am hoping there might be some good recommendations out there for me.

Much appreciated

I'm on a 6 month round the world trip at them moment with my other half, she doesn't wakeboard but has had to put up with me cable riding. I ende up getting a skate sent from the us to oz so i cold cable ride in oz, singapore and thailand. I was hoping to go to philipines but can't afford the extra time and money.

The Oz cables are great fun, 2 are near brisbane and 1 near cairns all are worth visiting for they're own reasons, bli bli has most obstacles (stay in marrochydore nr brisbane),logan holme is in the iddle of no where and has about 4 sliders and a couple of kickers (stay in Brisbane), cairns is always hot and has lts of cool toys, most of all they all have freindly staff!

Singapore has a friendly little cable, its a bit choppy but has some fun obstacles and i in hte middle of a national park near the coast, apparently they're raising the water level to sort out the chop.

Thailand has 2 cables, i've only been to phuket so far but should be going to bangkok if i can find it. Phuket is 4 corner glass lake, the lake is has a path round it for its free pick up scooter and then nice banked sides to keep wind out and a little island in the middle. The obstacles were a bit sketchy but yet again it was a fun ride.

An ideal trip would be to fly to oz then work your way back finishing in philipines as you'll probably be disapointed in all other cables after you go there!!

hope thats helped, any specifics pm me i've got some good places to stay and ways to get to cables.

Thank you for the tips! Very helpful.

I have my heart pretty much set on Thailand now. I was thinking of heading straight to somewhere to ride then taking the rest of the trip as it comes and jump on a few trains and night buses

forgot to write about one place i didn't get to visit in oz which looked sick, it was between port maquerie and brisbane (very near Port) and basically looked like a slider park for boat and jet ski, a nice long lake filled to the brim with obstacles, i was gutted when my girlfriend pointed it out as we passed on a greyhound, definately one to check out for anyone in the area.

Default Hi !

That's a great idea !
For Thailand cables, there seem to be more (around 4 ? ). You will find some info on this web page (the part about Thailand is in english) Téléski nautique - Cable ski
The only cable for which I found with a real website is Phuket (here Phuket Cable Ski - Water Skiing Wake Boarding Waterpark Phuket, Thailand ). You can travel there by bus or train from Bangkok, but it's quite far so a local plane might help.
Friends went, rented bikes, stayed a week, and had a great time. Cable is not very high, but not too bad.
I visited Thailand and loved it because there are lots of interesting visits to make (historical towns, jungle, etc) , it is friendly, cheap and very well organised for fravelers...
If you want boat riding, I tried Air time (air-time.net - AirTime Wakeboarding in Thailand) in 2005, which was great.
There is a new place which opened in the North in Chiang Rai : Infos an incredible spot with boats, rails and winches everywhere...
Otherwise, yes, Camsur in the Philipins (Camsur Watersports Complex CWC - Home-best cable wake park to wakeboard/wakeskate/waterski Philippines ) seems to be really great. Everybody who went just loved it...
I hope you will tell us how it went... have a great trip...
