Hi guys,
My name is Ben Lakin, I'm the President for Warwick university's Waterski and wakeboard club. I've been in touch with a few of you over the year but thought this would be a good idea to keep everyone informed on exactly what is going on. (nice one Gregg.) One thing I seem to be getting myself confused about is who exactly is organising this year's nationals at JB? Unfortunately I won't be able to make the meeting on the 28th of march but would like to put the following points across: - Could whoever is organising the nationals take into consideration that some universities such as ours (warwick) don't finish all exams till very late in term so if possible it would be great if the nationals could take place anytime between the 21st and 25th as this is the last week of term. I'm sure some people will have problems about this but would like to know what you guys think, the week before wouldn't be the end of the world but the one stated would definately be preferable, cheers guys and hope to hear from some of you soon. The reason you may be confused is because there are a few clubs that ride up at JB, we're sort of the JB Uni Riders thats why you may have been whondering why you were getting info off both Imperial college and myself at Southampton institute. At present we're working together to try and organise the nationals and set stuff up for next year (details in Calling all uni riders topic)! hope that answered ur questions.

Well because this years event is planned to be at JB and the facilities are there then I’m hoping it will be for both boat and cable, and i would have though the decision will be made at the meeting on the 27/28th march. Although this may be a difficult event to organise I think it gives everybody and equal opportunity to do well depending on their preference cable or boat or both.

I went to the philishave event at JB in the summer and the competition was on the boat, whilst others were pottering round the cable. There was also a big air comp' on the cable in the evening (7-8pm ish).
I was thinking that maybe the competition could be done like this, that way all the simple boarders like myself with only a few grabs and spins could still get a session in. That way people that are more used to riding cable could get their spot in the evening event when everyone is drinking and having fun. Thats just my thoughts..... |
