Default National student wake comittee meeting

Hi everyone,

Just incase you didn't get my meeting, we've got the student wake comittee AGM approaching on friday 1st april. We're inviting 2 people from each student club to attend and give input etc, we'll also have a chance to ride up at sheffield for a day or so.

Can people get back to me regarding who of their club will be coming, and what university they are.

Harryhog81@hotmail.com

cheers
harry

Default meeting

Sorry, didn't log on till today so missed the meeting, guessing no imperial people made it. What have you guys come up with for the nationals so far? If you need any help organising anything then let us know.
Any chance you'll be down around jb area any time over the easter break, would be good to get out and ride instead of revising.

Liz,

Hi - Iam organising the nationals with Harry this year. We didnt have a meeting in the end because not enough ppl got back to us (only 2 other unis). To be honest this is disappointing as we were really keen to tell you all our plans for things this year.

Anyway here goes - if all goes to plan its going to be big. Last years event was awsome and has helped massively for this year as alot of the format for the comp was decided then and worked well so we have left it alone for the most part. As a result we've been able to concentrate on the entertainment side of things and sponsorship etc.

For a number of reasons the event this year will hopefully be a 'mini festivial' based around the wakeboard comp, but including alot of extra stuff like, bands and djs, a reef girl comp, break dancing, pro demos, possibly a double up demo in the evening and even some skateboarding and just a general party over the last two nights and day. We are really lucky this year with the venu as its in a country park (were they did the rowing and waterskiing for THE GAMES TV show) so we can make more noise etc and theres alot more room to do stuff in. We are hoping basically to do alot of the stuff that was talked about last year but fell through because of unexpected restrictions from the site ownership if you know what I mean.

Planning these additional activities has meant that we really need to attract people from outside the clubs competiting, - otherwise it might all seem abit empty and so hopefully any student or anyone from anywhere thats keen to watch some extreme sports and let rip at the end of exams will come along!!!!! We have some plans for promo stuff to do that and if we get loads of people there it will be a killer atmosphere to compete and ride in - but we will need everyones help to make that happen. The snowsports clubs and surfing teams have comps within big parties for anyone so we see this a way to do the same for watersports as well...

There are loads of details to with all of this but that is the big picture basically and hopefully explains some of the thinking behind the new ideas. Ask as many questions as possible and hopefully we can start to spread the word abit and make it good for everyone.

oh yeah harry and i were at jb last week and may be again so will let you know

Sounds pretty sweet! It was a shame that last years entertainment bit didnt work as well as it could have done but it sounds like youve got that all sorted. Im not sure how many of the other uni committies check this forum so might be better to contact the unis by email if you need help with anything or want their input.

Will email all of the extreme(ish) sports clubs like ski, windsurf, skate at imperial and let them know, it might be more appealing if we get some leaflet thing we can email round when youve finalised the agenda. Only problem with it is the dates are out last week with all the balls, leaving parties and coursework deadlines but hopefully will be able to coax people away with the though of miss student reef comp!

Liz and everyone,

Just incase u've not looked at the individual post, me and rich have also got a sweet deal for a couple of weeks down in Xtreme-Gene spain. We're gonna take 2 sets of 17 students down there for for a week for approximately £340.

I'll be sending information out about this within the week.

Dates will be the two weeks following the nationals i.e. 25th June - 2nd July, and 2nd july - 9th July.

the conditions and equipment are all the best you could wish for so please please consider it. It'd be great if we could get small groups of 4-5 ish from each uni, so we can all get to know each other and have a sweet holiday!!

cheers
harry

Harry,

Just thinking it might be worth hooking you guys up with a UniRiders mailing list hosted on our WakeMail.net server... that way you could get messages out to other student boarders quickly. Let me know if you're interested and I'll set it up.

Check the Mailing List option on http://www.wakeboard.co.uk to see how it works for the Wakeboard UK UKRiders mailing list.
