Default Fins for kickers and sliders

Does anyone know what the rules are at JB's regarding what fins can and can't be used going over the kickers and sliders? For example are you allowed aluminium fins and is there a maximum permitted size?

I dont think there is any hard and fast rule but as a guide i would say that if you laid your board on a flat surface the fins shold not touch the surface, depending on board. 1.2 and below should be fine. any bigger than that should only be on a beginners board anyway. or a kite dangler board, (but we've done that issue already).

I ride an '03 parks 143 dna that has 1.3" aluminium fins on, when lying flat on the floor the fins don't touch. At the moment I use my girlfriends 0.7" epoxy fins so I can hit the kickers but she wants to start hitting the kickers too so will need them back. Do you think I should fork out £60 for a set of epoxy fins or just risk it with my big old aluminium beasties?

They should be ok, you could always file them/grind them down a few mill, better than spending out more money on fins. when you start hitting kickers and sliders regularly you will need all the money you can get for new boards/fins.

Hmmmmm, that's not a bad idea. I think a quick sesion on the CNC mill might be in order! 1.3" fins -> 0.8" super fat fins!
