What can we do to help.

Have the council granted them permission for a smaller setup or are they having to go back to the drawing board and submit a new plan which the council may also reject, does this mean all that will be there next year is the cable building, no bar, no porto loos..were will you buy your ticket???

At the moment everything has moved in to the shop, (part of existing building) so its very cozy, dont think it will be a problem through winter. I believe that new plans are being worked on now but not sure what. i will try and keep updates as i think everybodys support is vital. Cable will be running as normal, best to check with site on opening times, but i know the cable is now not open on Monday and Tuesday.
I think petition time will come when the next planning application goes in. Good to see some support.

sad to see they want it all taken down, seems spiteful. Surely JBSKI could've apply for retrospective PP over the winter ? i guess theres more back story to this we're not seeing ?

yes i would love better facilities and a new (clockwise LOL) cable so am happy to sign a petition but wonder if it would be enough.

All cables need a bit of a hand so as someone mentioned before, how about a petition. or letters to the planning office. If anyone has time to come up with a template i know i'd put my name to it and send it off if it meant Thorpe improved even more.

I would be first in line to get thorpe back to how it was when i started out in the sport. I absolutely loved that place, there was a great atmosphere, all the management/staff were awesome and encouraging, and i met pretty much all of my current friends at that lake. Yet when i go down there now i feel unwelcome and don't know anybody there, as all the regulars have become so infuriated that they've moved to other lakes.
The site is in a terrible state and i understand the reasons why, but when I grew up on a clean friendly cable park with so much progression and management that activly shaped the sport to how it is now, turning up at thorpe and paying through the nose to ride a poorly maintained and opperated cable, facilities that are could only exist from bribing H&S, and a management system that seems to have no care for the sport other than making money from it. its not a nice thing for me or countless others.
I still go back every couple of weeks hoping for a warm welcome or a good ride but it never happens. I'm truelly gutted about this and anything i could do to help i would, as long as i thought things would definitely change as a result.
good luck to JBSKI, Thorpe Ski RIP
