don't let me influence you, go to thorpe and make your own assumption. When it's good, its amazing. and you can't fault the rails, probably the best in the UK

I rode at Thorpe today, and to be honest i quite like the scaled down version. Once all the debris is cleared from the site, i think it could be good, maybe Sim, it could be getting back to how it was back in the day. lets hope so ... If there was a bar I would buy you a beer to make you feel welcome, but there isn't ... so the teas on me next time your down.

Just to add my two pennies worth I ride regulary at both Thorpe and Princes (cable and boat) and although I agree with all the points mentioned above by Sim I think it is important that we all get behind Thorpe to make sure they come through this as unscathed as possible.

We are lucky in this area of the UK to have 2 cable facilites in close proximity and I for one am glad to have the choice between the 2.

Lets hope Thorpe can get through this and come out stronger. If this eventuially leads to a 3 cable site there and proper facilities (don't get me started on the Thorpe changing rooms) then that would be fantastic.

If they don't come through it and we only have Princes to play with then I don't think thats a positive thing for our sport in the South-East. Competition is good as it keeps everyone on there toes and imagine the cable queues on summer weekends at Princes if Thorpe is no more.

When you say 'Competition is good as it keeps everyone on there toes' are you refering to the fact that quite a lot of Princes riders hate Thorpe and quite a lot of Thorpe riders hate Princes because thats not good.

No....what I was referring to is the competition between venues for there customers not competaion between the riders. Having 2 cable parks with the same catchment area of customers should (in theory) lead to better service being provided by both of them.

Its just an opinion but if Thorpe did close down (unlikely I know) then Princes could clean up with all the local cable riders and maybe in the future they could rest on there laurels a bit. Having a monopoly cable park is not necessarily a good thing.

Im not a huge rider of cable, but did try thorpe a few times, And whilst it may be good to get behind the club through this, alot of what is being complained about that i have also found to be true, is not the facilities.

Sure the facilities are Very Substandard.. which can not be excused by any stretch, but can be understood if they didnt have planning, but this doesnt explain the lack of 'companionship, or welcoming spirit'. When people come to a new cable park they want to be made to feel welcome, and enjoy themselves.

I also rode princes and found this much better, there is a good atmosphere, friendly staff, and generally the riders talk to people other than between their own groups. I now ride regularly at WMski down in Cirencester and can safely say that they have got it right... at least for the moment, its a place you can go by yourself, and end up riding with new friends.

My father used to ski at thorpe and was outraged to hear what has become of it, as he used to have a great time, however since JBski has taken over its not only the facilities that have suffered.

Im not saying that people do not have fun at thorpe, otherwise they simply wouldnt go there, but surely this can be swung round to truly one of the best places to ride in the UK, as it once was.
