Why do all the top riders (besides CK and obviously Ben Cordery) ride at Princes, JB seems to be were everyone new to the sport starts off (kids club..etc) but why do they move to Princes when they start getting good.
The results form King of Cable 2007 proove this.

Under 11 Boys, all three riders from JB
Boys 5, out of 10 from Princes / none from JB
Junior Men, 4 out of 10 from Princes / 3 out of 10 from JB
Masters Men, 9 out of 11 from Princes / non from JB
Men, 7 out of 12 from Princes / 1 from JB

Hi,

My Son has started to wake at Thorpe for about four months now, and we have been made very welcome, do take your point though, I wonder if its because alot of the competitions are held at Princes, so its a good place to have as your base!?

You could be right there.

Nationals = Princes
King Of Cable = Princes
Covered By Darkness (4 stops) = Princes

6 cable comps this year

JB only had the Fat Face high jump and 2 kids club comps (which are only for the kids club riders)

Why dont JB have more comps and why dont they host any major comps (Nationals..etc)?????

because everyone got pissed with the management and poorly operated cable and decided they'd rather ride in the fluro green 'water' of princes than deal with all the ****e at thorpe.
Seriously i can't explain how many people used to ride at thorpe every day, from groms to more senior folk like Micheal and Darryl who were much loved by all. The change to JBSKI after a couple of years was so bad that even these two really nice guys who have been regulars and members for countless years, left thorpe never to return.

Nick, thanks, milk no sugar!

Just a thought, but maybe its because Princes has two cable lakes, so they don't have to suffer the loss of normal business when running these comps, not sure how much financial backing the sponsers offer up to these clubs.

Simple reason they dont hold comps is that they dont want to. to take the cable out of action for one day costs a lot of money. Princes have the luxury of 2 cables therefore they still have revenue coming in ,even on competition days.
Princes is better geared up for comps and i think this is why the competition riders ( my son included)headed to Princes. I think it is good though, especially if you compete to vary where you ride, some riders are obviously very comfortable riding their home cable, but do not do so well when they ride different cables.
Darryl still rides at Thorpe, i have seen him there this year, maybe not as much as previously ,Fantastic charectar, and i think Michael rides at Princes as i have seen him there.
Dont forget some of the riders from Thorpe that didn't ride in King of Cable, such as Richie Hiney, Irish, Kieran Taheney,..All good riders.

p- One of the kids comps at Thorpe was open to all riders, and one was for Kids club only.
