P.S. Fakie You may get a response from the guy with the spiked helmet, as he does contribute to wakechat, havent seen him at Thorpe for some time.

Sim, Darryl was at Thorpe today spinning that skate in his dry suit.

Default Thorpe...

Yeah wednesdays will always get rammed with students... happens up and down the country at all cables as its the afternoon off lectures to play sport, and with so many expanding student wakeboard clubs its looking good for the sport but not if you want to go and have a quiet sesh on a wednesday arvo!

The students are having a massive weekend session at Bedford this weekend so you should be able to miss a few of them!

I can second that - was going down there every Wednesday for a lunchtime session this season - but Wednesday night and most of Thursday i was guaranteed to feel rough as f*ck.....

I have been riding back at Thorpe recently and i am really enjoying the riding. I put this as priority over all the other issues. ( mind you so many bloody students there today you couldn't get into the changing rooms to catch mrsa even if you wanted to!!)

Had a lovely late night session down at Princes last night and must admit the water was muggy and a lot of growth about around the dock area. Its never made me ill so far though.

princes- excellent facility, good vibe, people always willing to give you a tip, 2 cables, mucky water, nice rails, nice kickers

thorpe- MRSA showers, vibe not so happy, a stack of attitude, one saggy cable, clean water, nice rails, nice kickers, oh and when it works, the really annoying electronic gate thing...

still i like thorpe, its where i started and still enjoy going there for its positives, but accept that there are bad points. Only went a few time this year but felt Phil P trying hard to improve things. Rode mostly at princes and loved it (now a member), but yeah the water isnt that nice and did have a few bouts of 24 hour illness.

what's good about this thread is that it shows people have an interest in keeping two cables going in close proximity even if one isnt quite what it used to be. As wakeboarders we have to support thorpe for the various reasons listed (by Nick C et al)and support them in their efforts to update the facilities.
