Question

How would a wakeboard comp work in two locations???

Would they split the field of riders over the two places? or have qualifiers one place then finals in the other??

I just don't see it working, other than just having music at the second location, maybe a pool gap too (but then all the riders are in the other location.)

wakestock now seems to more about the music than the wakeboarding so i guess they are trying to be like 'V' and other music festivals running two sites if true

the wakeboarding will really be a secondary consideration which is a shame as that was what kick started the whole thing

also given how bad the weather can be up on the llyn peninsula i guess having two locations will insure against it not being a total wash out in the future and not making no money

just my 2 cents

ps

suprised nm and sim have not posted on this one as they are pretty close to it all i thought

I don't think they'd run qualifiers at one site and finals at the other as Woodstock and Abersoch are about 4½ hours drive apart which would cut into fun time for the riders somewhat!

That is if you really mean Blenheim Palace in Woodstock. It's a privately owned stately home and I'd be very surprised if they would allow wakeboard boats on the lake for a weekend but happy if they do as it's only 5 mins from me and I know a back way in to the park for free! ;-))

Having said that I know the Dukes son used to waterski on the lake (I used to work there when I was a kid and he had a ski nautique in the boat house) and they've had concerts there before so I guess there's a precedent. Bring it on!

Yeah, who knows, just a rumour, but guessing they would be different weekends, maybe different ends of the summer who knows!

i know where you're coming from but that is not the case anymore. I can guarantee you they are really focused on wakeboarding now. If this years event had gone ahead as planned you would have seen that; on-site pool gap by alliance, the wakeboard comp in the marina was beamed back to the campsite on huge video walls so everyone would see it, it was webcast around the world, the main sponsors of the event where relentless, hyperlite, alliance and vans, all brands based around wake. Even when it was cancelled they managed to put together a back-up party for the wake industry in just a few hours which was cool. Whatever you say about the festival side, wakestock still know's it routes.

I kinda like the idea of two comps, wakestock is always a good contest and god knows we've been lacking in them recently. And like Hussy said, we did do a photo shoot at Blenheim palace (which is probably where this story came from!) Sick place to ride and we got some awesome photos, not sure whether the Duke would want 10,000 people drinking beer in his back yard though!
