Default Difficult decisions

I had a bet with the missus. She said, that if I gave up smoking, then after 6 months (about long enough to pay for it) I could go to the Wakeboard Camp.

Well, since I've only done a week so far, maybe I'm being premature, but what I'd like people's opinions on is whether it's best to go for:
The Wakeboard Camp
Them Geordie blokes
Somewhere else
or just stay back in the UK and spend the money at Quays/JB/Princes/the pub.

Any opinions anyone?[/url]

dude i have a philosophical outlook on all this!
if u snowboard then save your money for that 'cos u can wakeboard in surrey but snow is pretty damn scarce,if u can afford both then i would have to say go and ride with the tweenies(the geordie blokes) 'cos the wakeboard camp has become a little bit impersonal-they have a bunch of instructors and u could technically have a different one each day, this means the coach-pupil relationship isn't as good.
the only problem with nick and julz is that if u r from surrey u won't be able to understand them anyway! only joking, try and get some old videos of byker grove and brush up on your north eastern vocabulary,oh and wear hair gel, lots of it and u should be fine.
it depends what level u r at too though, its an expensive way to learn when u have stu and the crew at the quays just down the road, but if u want to learn in the sun and warm water then have fun! 8)

Thanks

I think I could pick up the language - after all natives of the US hardly speak english.

I've only been to the Quays once, but half an hour with Will was ... satisfying. Seems hard to book there for a non-member. Might have to enquire.

Level - well, not brilliant. It's difficult when I can only stretch to two pulls a week (if that). Also there's about 4 months a year when it's just too danm cold.

I went to the Wakeboard Camp, years ago now... got taught by Kyle Schmit for the whole week, sounds like things have changed a bit now. And Orlando Watersports Complex this year....
I'd maybe give the Heanies a go or Cathy Williams thing, both are 'riders' trying to make some money on the side, one on one.... so you may get better value providing they can teach

You will learn wherever you go because a weeks intensive riding is always going to help, its all you think about. Going to Florida is cool as the water is nice and warm  and you can't beat the vibe. The missus can get a nice tan too....

Point to nothernmonkey - every time I go to Princes, I seem to get a different driver. Last year I was getting Matt most times and at least he remembered who I was and why I sucked.

Yup - zone6 it is true that not all pros can teach. I would love to name names, but I'm not going to.

Just spending a week boarding would be a hell of a thing though. The impression the Wakeboard Camp web site gives is that you get 90 minutes of actual boarding a day. Sounds good, but I think I'd have to take the gym seriously for the next six months to be able to really use that much time on the water.
