The 2003 Philishave Cool Skin UK Wakeboard Tour is being shown on Sky Sports this month. If you missed it today on 16th October you can catch it again on Sunday 19th October at 17:00 on Sky Sports 3 or at the end of the month on the Extreme Channel.
What did you think of the programme? How does the wakeboarding coverage compare to other extreme sports programmes? Would you like to see more wakeboarding on TV? Do you prefer watching competitions or action/lifestyle based programmes? Here are some dates for your diary: Philishave Cool Skin UK Wakeboard Tour Friday 31st November 21:00 The Extreme Sports Channel Saturday 1st November 13:30 The Extreme Sports Channel O'shea WAKESTOCK 2003 Friday 28th November 21:00 The Extreme Sports Channel Saturday 29th November 13:30 The Extreme Sports Channel Speedo Wakeboarding National Championships Premieres on the Extreme Sports Channel 5th December (21:30 TBC)[/b] |

I saw it, thought it was quite good, although could be improved.
It focussed really on only a couple of riders, would have been nice to have seen people from other divisions, i.e. top riders from open and even rookie divisions. That would really encourage people to compete. Also could have broken the programme up with some rider profiles. i.e one after each stop so you felt you got to know the top riders a bit more Having said this, just great to see boarding on the box |

Your comments are much appreciated. There will be some rider profiles of some description in the Speedo National Championships programme going out in December.
The UK Tour was mainly restricted by the time available. It was important to show the top three men from each tour stop, but unfortunate that the top two spots remained the same. Dan and Louise won all three tour stops and stole most of the limelight. Ben Hitch doesn't feature much because he is not keen on doing interviews. This doesn't leave much time to show the other riders, let alone other divisions. A lot of care is taken to make sure the best tricks from the other pros are included somewhere. I personally prefer the action sections with different riders and a music backing, but the sports channels need the focus on the events. The UK Wakeboard Tour is being shown all this week on the extreme sports channel if you missed it on Sky last month. Check out extreme.com and click on the TV Guide to check the schedule. Don't forget to come back and tell the world what you thought of it. |

Rich,
Well I thought is was excellent. We caught the tail end of it on Saturday lunchtime and couldn't wait to see the whole show later on in the evening. I particularly liked the pace and style of the riding footage. You got the speed just right and showed wakeboarding to be as exciting as we all know it is. Other tour programmes have had a kind of distance between the excitement of the action and the filming.. the 2003 Series programmer somehow got to the core of the action and got you stoked on your sofa. ;-) Made me want to go down the lake and scrape the frost off of my boat to go for a tow. Matt was also very good as the presenter... having him commentate on the tricks lends a lot of credibility to the programme. When you see him get podium finishes in the comps you are confident he knows what he's talk about. I had the misfortune the other day to see one of the Gravity games episodes where the commentator had obviously never ridden a bmx, let alone hit the vert ramp on one. He brought the show down to a pure commercial enterprise.. we all know the sponsors are what pay for the comps but you have to have credibility from the riders and spectators as well. Nice one.. let us know when we can have a couple of clips on the website ;-)

Rich
Saw the program on Sunday morning, am looking forward to seeing the other two shows ..... the footage was excellant and Matt's commentry really focased on the tricks rather than plugging the sponsers which is always a plus. As a whole am not a huge fan of watching competion's, I prefer footage of free riding where you see the riders in more relaxed conditions, but it was really good to see the British riders on TV. Keep up the good work, plus some footage for the site would be great.
